Brognano and Pristera Homer as Wildcats Sweep Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – SUNYIT posted a pair of double-digit victories at Wells College Saturday to improve to 12-8 overall, and 6-2 in NEAC play.

In game one 7 of SUNYIT's 9 starters registered hits as the Wildcats cruised to a 12-1 win in five innings. Nicolette Kennedy (Yonkers, N.Y. / Good Counsel Acad.) led SUNYIT, going 4-for-4 with 2 RBI's, and shortstop Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, N.Y. / RFA) belted a 2-run homer in the 4th. The 1 through 5 hitters for the Wildcats finished the day 13 of 19 at the plate while accounting for 9 of the team's 11 RBI's to help senior pitcher Erica Hovey (Dexter, N.Y. / Jefferson CC) pick up her team-leading 8th win.

In game two SUNYIT pounded out 11 hits in 5 innings to win 10-0. Krista Pristera (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) led the way with 4 RBI's on 1-for-1 at the plate. Pristera knocked in two runs on a pair of sac flies, and picked up her other two ribbies on a two-run homer to left field in the second inning.

Powerful as the SUNYIT offense was, it was relatively unnecessary as freshman pitcher Fallon Reinold (Holland Patent, N.Y. / Holland Patent) was dominant. Reinold threw all five innings, striking out 9 while surrendering just one hit on the day at the hands of Express catcher Kendrick Wilson.

SUNYIT will be back in action tomorrow with a doubleheader at NEAC North rival Keuka. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
