UTICA, NY – SUNYIT junior Amanda Pratt (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) has received two awards for her excellence in both academics and athletics, as she has received the 2010-11 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award while also being selected to the 2010-11 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District College Division First Team.

In addition to her excellence in the classroom, Pratt earned both honors for her accomplishments in softball after being selected to her second consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference North Division All-Conference First Team.  The 5-foot-5 outfielder had another tremendous season for the Lady Wildcats, batting .444 on the year with 40 hits, 29 RBI, 24 runs scored, 11 doubles, two home runs and a team-best three sacrifice flies while registering a .633 slugging percentage and a .485 on base percentage.  Pratt, who posted a 13-game hitting streak this season, continued her climb through the softball program record books, as she is currently second all-time in career RBI,  hits and doubles while being third all-time in career runs scored,  tied for fourth all-time in career home runs, sixth all-time in career slugging percentage and seventh all-time in career batting average.

Pratt, a criminal justice major who is also a member of the nationally-ranked SUNYIT women's bowling team, helped the Lady Wildcats to a 19-12 overall finish and their second straight appearance in the championship series of the double-elimination NEAC North Division Tournament.

The SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes a combination of academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, Division III, and NJCAA levels.  Pratt, along with SUNYIT freshman volleyball player Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore), was one of 74 student-athletes chosen for the award, with each scholar-athlete being selected by System Administration in consultation with the campus Athletic Directors at each level of play.  In honor of the accomplishment, each award recipient will receive a congratulatory letter and a plaque from State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.

The Capital One Academic All-District Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.  The All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. Student-athletes that are selected to the All-District First Team advance to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
