UTICA, NY – SUNYIT senior Meaghan McGurn (Slingerlands, NY/Hudson Valley CC) has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 13.

McGurn had a sensational week both at the plate and on the mound for the Lady Wildcats to help them to a 4-3 record while competing in the Snowbird Softball Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC.  McGurn went 3-for-8 at the plate with a homerun, four RBI and two runs scored while registering a batting percentage of .375, a slugging percentage of .750 and an on-base percentage of .375.  On the mound, McGurn registered two wins and a 2.40 ERA in three starts, pitching 15 innings and allowing just four earned runs while striking out nine batters and holding her opponents to a .250 batting average.

The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, March 26 when they travel to take on NEAC rival Morrisville State for a doubleheader.  Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
