MCC: Wildcats Take Home 1st Place at Charger Invitational.

LANCASTER PA. - The SUNY Poly men's cross country team came in first overall with a score of 56 points at Lancaster Bible's 2018 Charger Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15th. The Wildcats finished six runners in the top-25 to take first place in the race narrowly over host Lancaster Bible who had 58 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sophomore Noah Valvo (Town of Wright, N.Y.) led the pack of Wildcat runners. Valvo ran the 8K course in 28:21.9 to place sixth overall.
  • Jonathon Miller (Oneonta, N.Y.) ran a great race for SUNY Poly placing 8th overall as the second placing runner for the Wildcats. Miller ran the course in 28:56.1.
  • Ian Kurzrock (Woodbourne, N.Y.), Jessee Chain (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), and Garrett Jones (New Hartford, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. Kurzrock placed 10th with a time of 29:08, Chain finished 11th with a time of 29:19.7, and Jones placed 21st with a time of 30:43.
  • The NEAC was well represented in the race. Four of the top five teams in the race compete in the NEAC. Lancaster Bible, Penn College, an Penn St.-Berks finished second, third, and fourth respectively. Eight NEAC teams competed in the race.

UP NEXT:

SUNY Poly will host the Wildcat Classic next Saturday. The team placed third in the Wildcat Classic last year. The women's race is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM with the men's race scheduled for 11:00 AM.
