XC: Wildcats Host 11th Annual SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly cross country program hosted its annual Short Course Invitational 6K/4K race on Saturday. 23 teams were in attendance for the race which featured nearly 240 student-athletes competing on the beautiful SUNY Poly Cross Country Course. The Wildcats fared very well on their home course. The men's team took home 4th place with 117 points. The women placed 7th out of 11 teams with 197 points.

 

Men's Recap

Freshmen Noah Valvo (Town of Wright, N.Y.) ran an outstanding race in his first collegiate appearance. Valvo finished in 17th place with a time of 20:20.6 for the Wildcats. Junior Christopher Bouchard (Latham, N.Y.) followed closely behind and finished in 22nd place with a time of  20:28.6 for the Wildcats.

 

Women's Recap

 The women's team ran a solid race and placed 7th overall. Senior Rebecca LaPorte (New Hartford, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats finishing the race in 18:52.6 for a 30th place finish. Kiersten Albertson (Kirkville, N.Y.) placed 38th with a time of 19:11:4. Jalize Mejia (Bronx, N.Y), Kassidy Eng (Staten Island, N.Y.) Caley Grasso (Rensselaer, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats finishing 59th, 68th, and 78th respectively.

 

The Wildcats will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Morrisville, NY to take part in the 2017 Morrisville State Invitational. The meet is scheduled for at 11:00 AM start on Saturday morning.
