CC: Acey Leads Men's Cross Country to a 2016 Wildcat Classic Win, LaPorte Leads Women to a Respectable 6th Place Finish.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly cross country program hosted its annual Wildcat Classic Invitational 8K/6K race on Saturday. 16 teams were in attendance for the race which featured nearly 200 student-athletes competing on the beautiful SUNY Poly Cross Country Course. The Wildcats fared very well on their home course. The men's team won the race with 46 points and had the top finisher. The women placed 6th out of 16 teams with 141 points and had two runners in the top 25.

Men's Recap

Senior Joseph Acey (Forestport, N.Y.) ran an outstanding race in the last home meet of his career. Acey won the race by a 16 second margin with a time of 27:14.2 in the 8K. John Hohl(Webster, N.Y.) and Chris Bouchard (Latham, N.Y.) placed in the top five for the Wildcats. Hohl placed fourth in the with a time of 24:44.2, Bouchard placed fifth with a time of 27:58.9. The Wildcats rounded out their top five with a 16th place finish by Riley Christopher (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and a 20th place finish by Derek Smith (Rochester, N.Y.). 113 runners took part in the men's race.

Women's Recap

 The women's team ran a solid race and placed sixth. Rebecca LaPorte (New Hartdford, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats finishing the race in 25:52.0 for a 15th place finish.Kiersten Albertson (Kirkville, N.Y.) had a top 25 finish for the Wildcats. She placed 24thwith a time of 26:50.7. Jalize Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.)Leeanna Oakes (Staten Island, N.Y.), and Caley Grasso (Rensselaer, N.Y.) rounded out the Wildcats top five finishing 30th, 44th, and 57th respectively.

The Wildcats will be back in action this weekend when they will travel to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to take part in the 2016 Charger Invitational which is hosted by fellow NEAC member institution Lancaster Bible College. The meet is scheduled for a 10:00 AM start on Saturday morning.
