Men’s XC: Hamilton Invitational Recap

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wildcats ran well at the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday, placing 12th in the 17-team field.

Senior Cody Russell (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda) led the way for SUNY Poly, placing 38th in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 27 minutes and 41 seconds. Russell's time was the fasted of any runner on the Wildcat team by over a minute.

Russell has led the Wildcats in four of the team's six races so far this year, the most of any runner on the team.

Russell's official finish of 38th place was out of 114 qualifying runners, however the field unofficially included 177 runners. Russell's unofficial finish was 42nd.

Following Russell was Jordan Sirtoli (West Winfield, N.Y. / Mount Markham). Sirtoli continues to cement his place as a solid number-two runner on any given day for the Wildcats, placing 59th on Saturday with a time of 28:41.8.

Behind Russell was Joseph Acey (Forestport, N.Y. / Adirondack). The sophomore runner finished 60th with a time of 28 minutes and 42 seconds. While cross country courses are not standard, Acey's time at Hamilton was an improvement over his breakout performance two weekends ago at the Wildcat Weekend Invitational, in which he finished in 9th place.

Following Acey was Oliver Crain (Syracuse, N.Y. / Corcoran) (66th) and rounding out the scoring five for the Wildcats was Andrew Jeselson (Rome, N.Y. / Rome) in 77th place.

The Wildcats will next travel to Seneca Lake State Park for the CCOC Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm this Saturday, October 18th.
