Men’s Cross Country Takes 17th Place at Competitive Yellowjacket Invite

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Men's Cross Country Team raced to a 17th place finished amidst a stacked field at the Yellowjacket Invite on Saturday, which is hosted by the University of Rochester.

The host team finished second in the 24-team race behind the victorious SUNY Oneonta runners.

Traditionally successful big schools like Cortland State, Brockport, and St. John Fisher also competed in the race.

SUNY Poly finished ahead of fellow NEAC opponents Morrisville State (19th), Cazenovia (22nd), and Wells (23rd).

Cody Russell (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda) again led the Wildcats, finishing in 100th place with a time of 29:42, with Jordan Sirtoli hot on his heels at 29:50 (good for 102nd place).

Greg Bogdan and Oliver Cain finished 104th and 109th respectively, and Joseph Acey rounded out the scoring five for the Wildcats, turning in a solid race after struggling with an injury earlier in the season – he finished 112th with a time of 30:37.

The Wildcats will return home to host The SUNYIT Long Course Invitational as part of the upcoming Wildcat Weekend. The women's race is scheduled to start at 11 am, while the men's race will go off at noon.
