3-for-3: Derek Struck Wins Wildcat Weekend Classic with Course Record Time

MARCY, N.Y. – Derek Struck sure likes his home course.

On a beautiful sunny day at SUNYIT, Struck won the 8-kilometer Wildcat Weekend Invitational with a course record time of 26 minutes and 37 seconds. It was the first 8-kilometer race at home that Struck had participated in during his two years at SUNYIT – the sophomore had already set a course record during SUNYIT's 6k Invitational earlier this fall (beating his own course record from the year prior).

In all, Struck has raced 3 times on his home course, and has set a course record each time.

The Wildcats as a team finished in third place with 65 points, as Dylan Parry (Voorheesville, N.Y. / Voorheesville) was next on SUNYIT, finishing 7th with a time of 27:26. Freshman Sean McCarthy (Selden, N.Y. / Centereach) turned in his best race of the year, finishing tenth with a time of 27:39.

SUNYIT finished in 3rd place on the race with 65 points, behind SUNY Cobleskill in second with 55 points and juggernaut SUNY-ESF with 34 points.
