Men's Cross Country Impressive in Final Regular Season Race

GENEVA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Cross Country Team turned in an impressive third-place performance amidst a strong 17-team field at the CCOC Championships at Seneca Lake Park, N.Y. on Saturday. The Wildcats trailed only Clarkson and SUNY-ESF en route to their fourth Top-3 finish of the season.

Freshman phenom Derek Struck (Know, N.Y. / Berne-Knox-Westerlo) led the Wildcats in eighth place, finishing the 8k race in 27:36.55, just forty seconds off the first-place pace of Hartwick senior John Stuligross, who picked up the win for the fourth-place finishing Hawks.

Following Struck, it was the Wildcats' consistency that propelled the team to third place, as SUNYIT's second through fourth finishers all placed between 20th and 30th.

Veteran Dylan Parry (Voorheesville, N.Y. / Voorheesville) led the charge, placing 20th with a time of 28:20.62, and freshman Sean Reynolds (East Berne, N.Y. / Berne-Knox-Westerlo) was hot on his heels in 23rd place, finishing with a time of 28:25.09.

Rounding out the scoring five for the Wildcats were Cody Russell (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda) in 28th place, and Chris Wicks (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) in 44th.

The Wildcats will now have a week off before traveling back to Penn St.-Abington for the NEAC Championships on Saturday, October 27th at noon. Stay tuned to the men's cross country webpage for more information on the event.
