SUNYIT Men Continue To Outpace the Rest

FULL RACE RESULTS

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Cross Country Team continued to run circles around the majority of their competition on Saturday, finishing in 2nd-place out of 15 teams at the Houghton College Highlander Invitational.

Continuing to dominate with equanimity was SUNYIT freshman Derek Struck (Knox, N.Y. / Knox-Berne-Westerlo). Struck finished second in the ninety-eight person race, giving him his third top-2 finish in the team's first four races. Struck obliterated his previous 8k best on the young season, carding a scorching time of 26:28.88 at the Houghton course.

Struck's supporting cast stepped up big as well, as fellow freshman and high school teammate Sean Reynolds (East Berne, N.Y. / Knox-Berne-Westerlo) unseated team veteran Dylan Parry (Voorheesville, N.Y. / Voorheesville), who until Saturday had possessed a stranglehold on the two-spot for the Wildcats. Reynolds finished in 15th with a time of 27:39.1, but Parry was right behind him in 19th with a mark of 27:46.51. The emergence of both Parry and Reynolds this season has been a boon for the Wildcats, who have put their depth to good use in 2012.
