Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at CCOC Championships; Women Place Eleventh

GENEVA, NY – The SUNYIT men's cross country team had a total of 81 points and finished second out of 15 teams at the Cross Country Only Conference Championships, which were held at the Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva, NY this past Saturday.  The women's team had a total of 243 points to finish in 11th place out of 11 teams.

The men's team had four runners finish in the top 15, led by junior Robert Doss (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango), who crossed the finish line at 28:22 to place seventh out of 146 runners.  Freshman Christopher Wicks (Syracuse, NY/Baker) came in 10th with a finish time of 28:33, followed by senior Ryan Darling (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) in 11th with a time of 28:39 and fellow classmate Christopher Senez (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) in 12th with a time of 28:47.  Junior David Culbertson (Rome, NY/Smithfield-Selma) rounded out the top five Wildcat runners with a finish time of 31:10. 

Clarkson University had its five top runners all finish in the top eight individually to claim first place with a team score of 21 points.  Leading the way was junior Alex Benway with an end time with 26:51.

Freshman Leah Seneceal (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) was the Lady Wildcats' best runner, coming in 25th place out of 104 runners with a time of 22:15.  Senior Susanna Tom (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) crossed the finish line at 23:58, while sophomore Jessica Stanford (Bath, NY/Avoca Central) finished at 24:43.  Rounding out the top five Lady Wildcat finishers was freshman Miranda Costantine (Utica, NY/Notre Dame) with a time of 27:10 and junior Bianca Filleti (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) with a time of 28:31.

D'Youville College's Anya Bogdonets was the women's top runner with a finish time of 19:09, while William Smith College had a team total of 71 points to take home first place at the event.

The Wildcats will next be in action on Saturday, October 30 when they travel to Penn State Harrisburg for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships.  Start time has yet to be determined.
