Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Cedar Crest Invitational, Women Place Fifth

ALLENTOWN, PA – The SUNYIT men's cross country team posted a score of 54 to take second place out of nine teams at the Mule/Falcon Classic at Cedar Crest College Saturday, while the women's squad placed fifth out of 10 teams with a team score of 147.

SUNYIT had three runners finish in the top 10 on the men's side, led by senior Chris Senez (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) with a fifth place finish out of 76 runners with a time of 28:26.7.  Also finishing in the top 10 was senior Ryan Darling (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge), who finished eighth with a time of 28:54.7, and freshman Chris Wicks (Syracuse, NY/Baker), who finished 10th with a time of 29:04.6.  Junior Robert Doss (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) finished at 29:26.6 to place 12th, while fellow classmate David Culbertson (Rome, NY/Smithfield-Selma) crossed the finish line at 30:13.5 to place 20th.

Ozzie Huerta of Gloucester took first place individually with a time of 27:11.7, while Ursinus won the men's event with a team score of 36. 

On the women's side, junior Bridget McMahon (Avoca, NY/Avoca Central) was the first Wildcat to cross the finish line with a time of 22:37 to finish 13th individually out of 98 runners.  Freshman Leah Senecal (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) came in 25th with a time of 23:32.9, while senior Susanna Tom (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) came in 32nd with a time of 23:47.4.  Rounding out the top SUNYIT runners was sophomore Jessica Stanford (Bath, NY/Avoca Central), who came in 35th with a finish time of 23:58.9.

Sarah Huang of Ursinus took home first place individually with a time of 19:56.9 and guided her team to a first place finish with a team score of 30.

The Wildcats will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to participate in the Southern Vermont Invitational.  The women's event will begin at 10:00 am, while the men's race will begin at 10:45 am.
