Ammons Selected as NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week for Men's Swimming and Diving

UTICA, NY – SUNYIT freshman Jacob Ammons (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 16.  It is the second time this season that Ammons  has won the award.

Ammons helped lead the Wildcats to a first place finish at the Herkimer County Community College Sprint Invitational this past Saturday, finishing first in both the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:44.25 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:47.36.  Additionally, Ammons was part of the four-man crew that won the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:22.40.

The men's swimming team finished the regular season with a 3-1 record in the NEAC and went 4-2 overall during head-to-head matches, while capturing two first-place finishes and four top-five finishes during invitational competitions.
