Men's Swimming Wins Second Staight Meet with Victory over Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, NY – The SUNYIT men's swimming team won its second straight meet by defeating NEAC rival Cazenovia College 114-61 Saturday, while the women's team fell 115-17.

 

Leading the team was sophomore Bryan Rawlings (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), who took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:13.23 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:55.01.  Freshman Jacob Ammons (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:26.95 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:34.84.  Additionally, Rawlings and Ammons teamed with Kory Parsons (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) and Chris Kassay (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and won the 400-yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:35.38.

 

On the women's side, junior Katie Schlagel (Baldwinsville, NY/Morrisville) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 0:34.11 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 3:26.51.

 

The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, November 5 when they travel to take on Bard College @ Simon's Rock.   The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
