UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT men's swimming team defeated NEAC rival Wells College 95-82 at the Campus Center Pool Friday, while the women fell 102-13.
The men's team was led by sophomore Bryan Rawlings (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), who took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a pool-record time of 12:40.78 and also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:11.32. Freshman Jacob Ammons (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.83, while Chris Kassay (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) won the 200-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 1:59.72.
On the women's side, junior Katie Schlagel (Baldwinsville, NY/Morrisville) took second place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 0:33.03 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:25.12.
The Wildcats will next be in action on Friday, November 5 when they travel to take on Bard College @ Simon's Rock. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
