Men's and Women's Swimming Falls to Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The SUNYIT men's and women's swimming teams both suffered losses to NEAC rival Gallaudet University Saturday, with the men suffering a 126-83 setback and the women falling 162-18.

 

It was the first head-to-head loss of the season for the men's squad.  Sophomore Bryan Rawlings (Baldwinsville, NY/C. W. Baker) had a strong showing, taking first place in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.16 and second place in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 6:09.56.  Freshman Gavin Craddock (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.62, while fellow classmate Jacob Ammons (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) won the 100 Free with a time of 0:54.44.   

 

Rawlings and Craddock also teamed up with freshmen Chris Kassay (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and Kory Parsons (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) to take first place in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:54.86, while Craddock and Ammons joined Kassay and Parsons to win the 400-yard Freestyle Relay in 3:42.28. 

 

On the women's side, junior Katie Schlegal (Baldwinsville, NY/Morrisville) finished second in the 200 Free with a time of 2:41.15 and third in the 500 Free with a time of 7:12.65.  Junior Anne Smallwood (Denver, CO/Colorado Christian University) had three third-place finishes, including the 50-yard Freestyle (0:42.53), the 100-yard Freestyle (1:37.15) and the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:59.29).

 

The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 when they travel to participate in the Potsdam North Country Invitational.  Friday's action will begin at 4:00 pm, while Saturday's action will pick up at 10:00 am.
