MSOC: Wildcats Beat MCLA in Non-Conference Match.

MARCY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly men's soccer team defeated MCLA on Wednesday evening 3-1. Three different Wildcats would score in the team victory. With the win, the Wildcats move to 8-4 on the season. The Trailblazers move to 4-5-1 on the season.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Wildcats would strike first on Wednesday evening with a goal from Jhonny Theze in the 30th minute. The goal would be his third of the season. The Wildcats would once again find the back of the net right before halftime in the 44th minute, this time on a goal from Miguel Casarrubias, assisted by Dominick Spychalski. It would be Casarrubias' first goal at SUNY Poly.

In the second half, the Wildcats would extend their lead to 3-0 in the 54th minute on a goal from Thomas Nimineh. It would be his fourth goal of the season, which ties him with Payton Bennet for the team lead. The Trailblazers would strike in the 77th minute on a goal from Traizen Griffith, assisted by Marcos Lopez. The goal would prove to be too little too late for the Trailblazers, and the Wildcats would hold on for a 3-1 victory.

 

NOTABLE STATISTICS:

  • Thomas Nimineh scored his fourth goal of the season, which ties him for the team lead.
  • With the win, the Wildcats have won five consecutive games.

 

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 14th against SUNY Cobleskill for a NAC matchup. SUNY Poly will also be celebrating senior day. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
