PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The SUNY Poly men's soccer team faced off against the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats came out victorious in a tightly contested game, with a final score of 2-1.

SUNY Poly took control early in the match, with Thomas Nimineh scoring the opening goal at the 5:43 mark, giving his team the lead. The Wildcats continued to apply pressure, and just over five minutes later, Nimineh found the back of the net again, this time with an assist from Jhonny Theze. SUNY Poly went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

UMPI showed fight in the second half, with Billy Wray scoring an unassisted goal at the 64:03 mark, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Despite their efforts, the home team couldn't find the equalizer, and the Wildcats held on for the win.

Ryan Primus, the Wildcats' goalkeeper, earned his sixth win of the season making one save and allowing one goal. Xavier McAtee of UMPI faced offensive pressure from the SUNY Poly offense all game. He made nine saves in the match.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Bangor to take on the Husson University Eagles on Sunday, October 8^th. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 PM start. The meeting will be a clash of the unbeaten. Husson is 3-0 and SUNY Poly is 4-0 this season.
