MSOC: Wildcats Improve to 2-0 in NAC Play With a 2-0 Win Over Kangaroos.

CANTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team exhibited a strong defensive performance en route to a 2-0 victory over SUNY Canton on Thursday evening at the SUNY Canton Turf. With this win, SUNY Poly improved to 4-4-0 overall and improved their record to 2-0-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play, while SUNY Canton's record fell to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the NAC.

 

The Wildcats established their dominance early, controlling possession and creating scoring opportunities. The first goal came in the 44th minute when Edgar Gomez found the back of the net, capitalizing on a well-placed cross from Abus Mohamed Ali. The goal gave SUNY Poly a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

 

In the second half, the Wildcats maintained their offensive pressure. Abus Mohamed Ali added an insurance goal in the 68th minute, finishing a through ball with composure in a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalkeeper. Jhonny Theze and Jael Casimir were credited with assists on the play.

 

SUNY Poly's goalkeeper, Ryan Primus, delivered a shutout performance, making four crucial saves to secure the clean sheet. On the other side, SUNY Canton's Owen Kwong faced a barrage of shots, making eight saves during the match.

 

The Wildcats outshot SUNY Canton 14-7, showcasing their offensive firepower, while maintaining a solid defensive structure.

The Wildcats will travel to Massachusetts on Saturday to take on the Eastern Nazarene Lions. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 PM start at Creedon Field in North Quincy.
