MSOC: Three Wildcats Score in Home Win Over Mt. St. Mary.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win on Wednesday night over the Mt. St. Mary College Knights at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field. The Wildcats took the lead early and didn't look back, adding two goals in the second half to earn their second win of the season. They are now 2-3 this season.

 

The Wildcats scored their first goal early on a ball that was batted around the box in front of the goal. A Knights defender attempted to clear the ball out of the box, but the pass was tipped into the goal by Peyton Bennett.

 

The 'Cats second goal of the game was in the 53rd minute. The Wildcats got a solid breakout opportunity with Abus Mohamed-Ali finding space on the left side of the box. Mohamed-Ali passed up a decent shot opportunity to feed a pass to a wide-open Colby Diamond who netted the shot for his first career goal.

 

Abus Mohamed-Ali converted a scoring opportunity in the 77th minute to pad the Wildcats lead. Dominick Spychalski fed a beautiful pass from the right side to Mohamed-Ali on the opposite side of the field who hit the pass out of the air with his right foot into the back of the net.

 

Ryan Primus earned the win in goal. He did not face a shot in 35 minutes of play. Tyler Barth played the final 55 minutes of the game for the Wildcats and recorded three saves.

 

The Wildcat's defense allowed just three shots on goal and allowed just six total shots.

The Wildcats will host the SUNY Delhi Broncos on Saturday in the first North Atlantic Conference action of the season. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 start at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field.
