MSOC: Wildcats Lose Closely Contested Game at Nazareth. 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team lost to Nazareth 1-0 on Wednesday night in a wild road game which saw lightning strikes, penalty kicks, and lights in the stadium going out on a scoring opportunity with 32.7 seconds left to play. The Golden Flyers scored the game winning goal in the 18th minute on a penalty kick. The Wildcats are now 1-2 this season.  

 

The Wildcats and the Golden Flyers played a tightly contested match between the lines. The Wildcats had nine shots as a team with six on goal. Nazareth tool 12 shots, placing five on goal. The difference making goal was an early penalty kick by Jake Pawlika that found the bak of the net in the 18th minute.  

 

Ryan Primus was the goalkeeper of record for the Wildcats. He made four saves. Patrick Larkin earned the win for Nazareth in goal making six saves to record the shutout.  

 

The Wildcats had their fair share of opportunities to score in the game, but none more seeminly relevent to the outcome than an opportunity that was cut short. With 32.7 seconds left, the Wildcats were awarded a free kick about 10 yards outside the box. As the teams were getting lined up for the kick, the lights in the stadium went dark. The game was not resumed.  

 

UP NEXT:  

The Wildcats will travel to cross-town rival Utica University on Saturday, September 9th. The game is scheduled for a 11:00 AM start.
