MSOC: Mohamed-Ali and Banker Headline Wildcat NAC All-Conference Awards.

WATERVILLE, Maine - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) released the 2022 men's soccer post-season awards on Wednesday. The Wildcats took home three of the top individual awards and had five players voted to All-Conference teams. Abus Mohamed-Ali was voted the NAC Player of the Year. Wakeley Banker was voted the NAC Defensive Player of the Year and the NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete.

SUNY Poly forward Abus Mohamed-Ali was named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year, as voted upon by the conference's head coaches.

SUNY Poly defender Wakeley Banker was voted the Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, as well as the Men's Soccer Senior Scholar Athlete. 

Mohamed-Ali tallied three goals and five assists for 11 points over 14 games for SUNY Poly, including three goals and three assists for nine points versus NAC opponents. He charted game-winning goals against UMaine-Farmington and SUNY Delhi, and added a score in a divisional clash with Northern Vermont-Johnson.

Playing out of the Wildcat backline, SUNY Poly's Banker finished the season with eight goals and 16 points. Five of his goals were against NAC rivals, including two-goal performances versus Northern Vermont-Johnson and SUNY Canton; four of his goals were game-winners. Banker will join Castleton University's Thomas Kirk (2016 and 2017) as the only repeat Defensive Player of the Year honorees in NAC men's soccer history. Academically, Banker has maintained a 3.83 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in applied mathematics.

Banker and Mohamed-Ali's performance also saw them voted to the NAC All-Conference First Team. Three other Widlcats also earned All-Conference Honors. Edward Greene and Matthew McCord were voted to the NAC All-Conference Second Team. Greene was solid for the Wildcats this season in the midfield. The senior recorded a career-high eight points on two goals and four assists.  McCord was great in the backfield for the Wildcats this season, helping the Wildcats hold opponents to just .79 goals per game. McCord also had a career-high 10 points this season with five goals scored. Kevin Ryan was voted to the Third Team after having a great defensive season for the Wildcats. Banker wrapped up the awards for the Wildcats with a spot on the NAC Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive season.
