MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team improved to 3-0-2 in North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday with a 1-0 win over the University of Maine Farmington Beavers. The game's only goal was by SUNY Poly's Abus Mohamed-Ali in the 29th minute.

THE GOAL:

In the 29th minute, Abus Mohamed-Ali scored the difference-making goal for the Wildcats. The play started with Dominick Spychalsky playing a pass into Mohamed-Ali about 20 yards from the goal. While it initially looked like the Beavers had Mohamed-Ali dammed in, the slippery sophomore made a great spin move to find a seam between two Farmington defenders. Abus drove toward the goal and hit a hard low shot to the right corner to beat the diving goalkeeper.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • The Wildcat defense played fantastically as a unit. They held the Farmington offense, averaging seven shots per game this season, to just one shot on goal.
  • Abus Mohamed-Ali scored his first goal of the season in the 29th minute.
  • Ryan Primus earned the win in goal for the Wildcats. He did not face a shot in 45 minutes played.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host NVU-Lyndon on Sunday, October 9th. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field.
