MSOC: McCord and Camara Record Two Goals Each in NAC Win Over SUNY Cobleskill.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team improved to 2-0-2 in NAC play on Saturday with a 4-0 win on the road at SUNY Cobleskill. The Wildcats were led by yet another pair of two-goal scorers, Matthew McCord and Aboubacar Camara. SUNY Poly is now 5-3-2 this season and sits atop the West Division standings.

 

THE GOALS:

The Wildcats scored their first of four goals in the 14th minute. The score started with a free kick from Edward Greene from about 10 yards outside of the box. The free ball was bounced into the box, finding McCord who deflected the pass into the net. The goal was McCord's first of the season.

 

The Wildcats scored again in the first half, this time on an unassisted goal by Aboubacar Camara. Camara beat his defender and hit a hard line drive shot from 14 yards out beating the keeper to the top right corner. It was his second goal of the season.

 

The Wildcat's third goal started with a corner kick. The corner was hit from the right side into Wakeley Banker on the left side of the box. Banker put his head on the ball, directing a shot to the top shelf. Cobleskill's keeper John Gergen made a great save on the first effort, but deflected the shot right to the foot of Aboubacar Camara who gathered, avoided a defender, and scored on an empty net. It was Camara's second goal of the game and his third of the season.

 

The fourth and final goal of the day was again by Matthew McCord and was scored off of a free kick ten yards off of the right corner of the box. Payton Bennett took the free kick for the Wildcats and found McCord who scored his second goal of the game and his second goal of the season.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Aboubacar Camara scored two goals for the Wildcats in the game. His four points bring his season total to seven.
  • Matthew McCord scored his first two goals of the season for SUNY Poly. He now has four points on two goals this season.
  • The Wildcats put 10 shots on goal in the game while holding Cobleskill to just six.
  • Chase Coluccio earned the win in goal for Poly.
  • Ryan Primus made six saves for the Wildcats in 69 minutes played in goal.
  • Payton Bennett and Edward Greene each had an assist in the game.
  • John Gergen made six saves in goal for Cobleskill.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Sage on Wednesday to take on the Gators in a non-conference game. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM kick-off. The last time the Gators and the Wildcats met was October 5th of 2021. The game ended in a 0-0 tie in double overtime.
