MLAX: Wildcats Dominate in First Conference Game of the Season.

North Adams, Mass - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team picked up their second win in a row in what was a dominating performance against the MCLA Trailblazers. The Wildcats had four different players record hat tricks, and nine different goal scorers in total. The win moves the Wildcats to 3-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Wildcats controlled much of the game, starting with an impressive first period performance. Goals from Ryan Carroll, Michael Baker and Andrew Maycock, put the Wildcats up  6-0 on the scoreboard heading into the second period. 

Behind two goals from Maycock and Payton Thomas, SUNY Poly continued to dominate in the second period. The Wildcats allowed the Trailblazers to record only 5 shots in the period, leading to a 13-1 halftime lead. 

The second half was a continuation of the first, with the Wildcats scoring at ease. Kai Hew, Ian Short and Joshua Cargen were able to get their names on the scoresheet. The Trailblazers would add a couple of goals toward the end of the final period, but it was SUNY Poly ending the game on top by a score of 21-4. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Andrew Maycock picked up seven points (three goals, four assists). 

  • Ryan Carroll netted four goals on four shots.

  • Ian Short added four points to his stats (three goals, one assist)

The Wildcats are back on home turf for a conference matchup against the SUNY Delhi Broncos. That game is scheduled for March 30th, at 3:30 p.m.
