MLAX: Wildcats Improve to 6-1 in NAC Play With 18-8 Win Over Canton.

UTICA, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly lacrosse team defeated SUNY Canton 18-9 on Wednesday at home in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Wildcats had an impressive performance throughout the game, scoring five goals in the first quarter and adding six more in the second. SUNY Canton struggled to keep up, with only one goal in the first half. The Wildcats are now 8-4 this season with a 6-1 record in NAC play.

 

Andrew Maycock led way for the Wildcats with a team-high seven points on four goals and two assists. Michael Baker, Jared Harter, Luke Taylor, and Lyle Beeman each had three points. Baker had a pair of goals, an assist, and a ground ball. Harter had the exact same stat line as Baker. Taylor and Beeman each scored three times. They had three and four ground balls respectively.

 

Defensively, the Wildcats were led by Andrew Maycock who had four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Joshua Cargen and Spencer Nixon had three caused turnovers in the game. Griffin LaFleur had a game-high six ground balls.

 

In goal, Joseph VanZandt earned his eighth win of the season. He made six saves on nine shots faced.

 

 

SUNY Canton struggled to keep up, with only one goal in the first half, and scored six of their goals in the fourth quarter. Austin Mesler led the Roos with four goals and three assists, six players had one point for the Kangaroos.

The Wildcats will hit the road to take on the SUNY Delhi Broncos on Saturday, April 22nd. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
