MLAX: Wildcats Beaten By Potsdam at Home.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team lost to Potsdam on Wednesday night in what were challenging weather conditions. The game ended in a 14-7 victory for the Bears. The Wildcats are now 5-3 this season.

 

Potsdam came out firing in the first quarter, with Drew Rose opening the scoring at the 12:53 mark. Cobie Cree added two more goals before the quarter was over, and the Bears took a commanding 5-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

 

Potsdam continued to grow their lead in the second quarter, adding three more goals, two from Peyton Walsh, to take an 8-0 lead. SUNY Poly finally got on the board at the 6:14 mark, with a goal from Luke Taylor, but Potsdam answered back with another goal from Owen Walsh just over a minute later. The half ended with Potsdam leading 9-2.

 

SUNY Poly looked to make a comeback in the third quarter, with three goals from Lyle Beeman, Griffin LaFleur, and Payton Thomas, but Potsdam matched them goal for goal in the third, with two more goals from Peyton Walsh, one from Owen Walsh, and one from Cobie Cree, to grow their lead back to eight.

 

In the fourth quarter, SUNY Poly scored two more goals, but it was too little too late. The game ended with a final score of 14-7.

The Wildcats will travel to Cazenovia on Saturday to play a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
