MLAX: Wildcats Improve to 2-0 in NAC Play With Dominant Win Over Lyndon.

NORTHFIELD, VT.- SUNY Poly men's lacrosse put on a dominating display in a 20-5 victory against Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Friday evening. The Wildcats scored the first 13 goals of the game to put the contest out of reach early. SUNY Poly is now 4-2 with a 2-0 record in NAC play.

 

SUNY Poly dominated the game from the start, scoring two quick goals in the first quarter. Michael Baker scored the first goal of the game unassisted, followed by a goal by Luke Taylor assisted by Lyle Beeman.

 

In the second quarter, SUNY Poly scored 11 goals, with six of them assisted by Beeman. Taylor and Beeman both scored two goals in the quarter, while Payton Thomas, Brendan Rie, Andrew Maycock, and Griffin LaFleur each contributed one goal.

 

Northern Vermont-Lyndon struggled to get on the board, failing to score in the first half. In the third quarter, Elias Libby and Foster Smallman scored two quick goals for Northern Vermont-Lyndon, but SUNY Poly responded with three goals of their own, including a goal by Christopher Naldini assisted by Jared Harter.

 

In the fourth quarter, Northern Vermont-Lyndon managed to score two goals by Alex Reed and Libby, but it was too little too late. SUNY Poly scored two more goals, including a final goal by Joshua Cargen, to seal the victory.

 

Beeman led SUNY Poly in scoring with three goals and three assists, while Brendan Rie added three goals and two assists. Andrew Maycock and Griffin LaFleur each had four points on two goals and two assists.

 

SUNY Poly dominated on both sides of the ball, outshooting Northern Vermont-Lyndon 28-14 and winning 22 ground balls to Northern Vermont-Lyndon's 10. SUNY Poly's goalie, Spencer Nixon, made two saves in the game.

The Wildcats will take on Thomas College in a NAC game on Sunday, April 2nd. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
