MLAX: Six Wildcats Earn NAC All-Conference Honors. Fontanella Earns Co-DPOY and Misiaszek Repeats as COTY.

WATERVILLE, Maine - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced the 2022 All-Conference selections. The Wildcats who earned the #2 seed in the NAC Postseason this year were well represented with two individual season awards, four All-Conference Awards, and a Sportsmanship Award. The Wildcat's selections are headlined by Senior Joe Fontanella who was named the Co-Defensive Player of The Year and a First Team All-Conference Award recipient and by SUNY Poly Head Coach Brandon Misiaszek who earned his second consecutive Coach of the Year Award. 

All-in-all the Wildcats had six players earn honors. Joe Fontanella was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team selection. Brandon Misiaszek was named Coach of the Year. Edward Rosaschi, Shane Wyman, and Payton Thomas were voted to the All-Conference Second Team. Rounding out the awards for the Wildcats was Mathew Johnson who was the Wildcat's representative on the Sportsmanship Team.

Joseph Fontanella, SUNY Poly  
Senior / Liverpool, New York

Joseph Fontanella is the Co-Defensive Player of the Year for Men's Lacrosse. As a defender in front of two goalies this season, Fontanella led a defensive unit that registered 99 team clears (84.6%) and allowed only 64 goals-against, or 9.13 goals-against per NAC contest. He caused 15 turnovers and picked up 25 ground balls on the way to a team record of 6-1 (7-6 overall) and the #2 seed for the 2022 NAC championship tournament. In 13 total games, Fontanella notched 30 caused turnovers, collected 38 ground balls, and helped the team clear the ball 204 times (81.6%). The Wildcats' defense registered the fewest goals-against at 135 and the second-best mark of 10.38 goals-per-game average.

Brandon Misiaszek, SUNY Poly

Coach Misiaszek is the 2022 Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year. This is his second such honor in as many years in the conference. His team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-1 (.857) NAC record and 7-6 (.538) overall. The 2021 champions fell in the semifinal round this year, but during the regular season, they scored 149 goals, registered 73 assists, and averaged 11.46 goals per game. Co-Defensive Player of the Year Joseph Fontanella was named to the First Team All-Conference, and three additional players made the Second Team.
