MLAX: SUNY Poly Earns 13-7 Win Over Delhi on Senior Day.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned a 13-7 win on Senior Day over the SUNY Delhi Broncos to improve to 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Wildcats are now 5-4 overall this season. The Broncos, who came into the game with an unblemished record in conference play, are now 7-1 in the NAC with an 8-6 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats scored the first two goals in the game to take an early lead. A Delhi goal by Logan Bauer with four minutes left in the first made it a 2-1 game, but a SUNY Poly 4-0 run gave the Wildcats a five-goal lead midway through the second quarter. That early lead and the subsequent goals in the second quarter gave the Wildcats a six-goal lead at the half. The 9-3 hole proved too much for the Broncos despite scoring four unanswered goals in the second half, and the Wildcats cruised to a 13-7 win at home.

SENIOR DAY:

Prior to the game, the Wildcats honored this year's eight seniors with a short ceremony. The eight seniors; Joseph Fontanella, Brody Guido, Ian Jahrsdoerfer, Mathew Johnson, Michael Kenneally, Ryan Mead, Edward Rosaschi, and Shane Wyman have been instrumental in the growth of the SUNY Poly men's lacrosse program over the last few seasons. Their contributions helped lead the Wildcats to a NAC Championship in 2021, the first Conference Championship in program history.

  • Mathew Johnson had a great game in goal for the Wildcats. He made 15 saves on 22 shots faced to earn his third win in goal this season.
