MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned their second win of the season on Sunday in an exciting 8-6 game over cross-town rival Utica College. The Wildcats were down early in the game but answered quickly to tie the game up in the third. A strong fourth quarter ultimately secured the win for the Wildcats. It was the program's first-ever win over Utica.

The Wildcats went down 4-0 in the first quarter thanks in part to three goals by Utica's Dylan Dunham. The second quarter was all Wildcats as they answered with three consecutive goals of their own bringing the game within one. SUNY Poly tied the game with five minutes left in the third on an Edward Rosaschi (Highland Mills N.Y.) goal and took the lead early in the fourth on a Shane Wyman (East Greenbush, N.Y.) goal. Two more unanswered goals would give the Wildcats their biggest lead of the game at 8-5. The lead held for the final seven minutes and the Wildcats earned the 8-6 win over Utica.

NOTES:

• Edward Rosaschi led the Wildcats with a game-high three goals in the 8-6 victory. He also added an assist and a team-high five ground balls.
• Ryan Mead (Churchville, N.Y.)  went 10-16 on faceoffs with four groundballs and two goals.
• Jared Laird (Ontario N.Y.) was strong in the net with 16 saves earning the win for SUNY Poly.
• Robert Pollock (Fulton, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with three caused turnovers. He also had two groundballs.
• Dylan Dunham had three goals early on in the first quarter for Utica
• Jozef Korpics had 14 saves in goal for the Pioneers.

The Wildcats continue their season next week with two home games at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th against SUNY Potsdam at 4:00 PM The second is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 PM against The Alfred University Saxons.
