MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned a great North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over Cazenovia College on Wednesday. SUNY Poly got out to a commanding five-goal lead in the first half and grew the lead to as many as seven goals in the second. The Wildcats got great production from some familiar players and got a great performance from Rhett Stauffer (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) who had a career-high three goals which included the first two Wildcat goals of the game. The win brings the Wildcats season record to 8-5 with a 4-2 NEAC record. The Wildcats are now in sole possession of third place in the NEAC.

A GAME OF RUNS:

The Wildcats scored their goals in bunches against Cazenovia. The first was a 4-0 run in the first quarter. Rhett Stauffer scored the first two goals, Edward Rosaschi (Highland Mills, N.Y.) scored the third, and Jacob Elliott (Trot, N.Y.) scored the fourth.

Cazenovia would open the second quarter with a quick goal to cut the Wildcat lead to two, but a 4-1 run for the Wildcats to close the quarter. Chase LaCava (Jamesville, N.Y.) scored two goals and had an assist in the second quarter. Edward Rosaschi scored his second goal of the game and Daniel Cuddihy (Eden, N.Y.) scored to end the quarter.

The Wildcats would score the rest of their goals in pairs, putting together three pairs to finish out the game with the win.

NOTABLES:

• Chase LaCava scored a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. He has 37 points this season on 21 goals and 16 assists. LaCava also had six ground balls in the win.

• Rhett Stauffer had a career-high three points on three goals. He took just four shots in the game, landing all four on goal. He also scooped up a ground ball.

• Daniel Cuddihy had three points for SUNY Poly on two goals and an assist. The three points bring his season total to 20.

• Edward Rosaschi scored two goals and had an assist. He also had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. He is the Wildcats point leader with 47 this season.

• Jacob Elliott had three goals and had six ground balls. Elliott's season point total is now 28.

• Ryan Daucher (Geneva, N.Y.) had a team-high three caused turnovers for the Wildcats. He also had a ground ball.

• Charles Rosaschi (Highland Mills, N.Y.) earned his third win of the season in goal. He made 11 saves between the pipes on 19 shots faced. He has a 57% save percentage this season which ranks third in the NEAC.

• Joe Timm led the way for Cazenovia with a game-high five goals. He also had a ground ball.

• Nate Jacobs scored the other three goals for Cazenovia.

• Matt Deyette was the losing goalkeeper. He made four saves in 17 minutes of play.

• Jeff Bain had a game-high 11 ground balls for Cazenovia.

• Noah Gessini had a game-high four caused turnovers.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host Medaille College on Saturday, April 27th for their annual senior game. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field. It is the last game of the season for the Wildcats.
