MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team lost a tight game to Morrisville State on Wednesday night at Morrisville. The game was the Wildcats first North Eastern Athletic Conference game of the season. The Wildcats are now 4-4 overall with a 0-1 NEAC record. The game was tight through the first half with the Wildcats holding a 5-4 lead at the end of the second quarter. SUNY Poly would add one more goal to push their lead to two, but Morrisville would score seven of the next eight goals taking an 11-7 lead into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats gave it a run in the fourth quarter, but their three goals were not enough to overcome the deficit.

NOTABLES:

• Ryan Mead (Churchville, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with four points in the game on four goals. He also had six ground balls, a caused turnover, and went 9-16 in the faceoff Circle.

• Jacob Elliott (Troy, N.Y.), Chase LaCava (Jamesville, N.Y.), Daniel Cuddihy (Eden, N.Y.), and Shane Wyman (East Greenbush, N.Y.) each had two points for the Wildcats in the game. Elliott scored two goals, had four ground balls, and a caused turnover. LaCava had two assists and two ground balls. Cudahy scored two goals. Wyman had one goal, one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.

• Joseph Fontanella (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with two caused turnovers in the game.

• Charles Rosaschi (Highland Mills, N.Y.) was the losing goalkeeper for the Wildcats. He made 12 saves on 24 shots faced.

• Chris Dovi had a big game for the Mustangs. He scored five goals and had one ground ball.

• Zach Wilsey and Nick Geswaldo each had three points for Morrisville. Willsey had three goals. Geswaldo had a goal, and assist, five ground balls, and one caused turnover.

• Nico Cejic was the winning goalkeeper. He made 9 saves and faced 19 shots in goal to improve to 2-4 on the season.

• Sean Wahlburger led the Mustangs with seven ground balls and was 14-25 in the faceoff circle

The Wildcats will return home on Saturday, April 6th for their second NEAC game of the 2019 season. The Wildcats will host Hilbert College at Wildcat Field. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
