MLAX: Wildcats Voted Sixth in NEAC Preseason Poll

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team has been voted sixth in the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) annual preseason poll.

Last season the Wildcats were 4-4 in the NEAC, narrowly missing a playoff berth. This season the Wildcat Lacrosse program is now under the leadership of first year Head Coach Brandon Misiaszek. Misiaszek, a former assistant with Hamilton College and Utica College, will be working with a strong core of returning players.

On the attack the Wildcats return senior points leader from 2016 Tyler Heldt (Cicero, N.Y.) and senior Joey Beyer (Long Beach, N.Y.).  Heldt had 35 points last season on 29 goals and nine assists. Beyer had 20 points on 14 goals and six assists. The Wildcats had some turnover on the defensive, but retained junior defender Casey Hennessy (Voorheesville, N.Y.) who was top five in caused turnovers and , and senior defender Nicholas Brennon (Utica, N.Y.).

The Wildcats will open their season on February 25th against Regis who they beat last season in the team's season opener. The Wildcats first home game will take place on March 15th against local rival Utica College.
