MLAX: Wildcats Fail to Tame Mustangs High Powered Offense.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats hosted the Morrisville Mustangs on Wednesday for a NEAC matchup. The top preseason ranked Mustangs got off to a hot start, going up 11-2 in the first half. The Wildcats made a push on offense, but it was too late as the Mustangs lead held up for a final score of 16-7.  

Senior captain Nicholas Levanti (Clayville, N.Y.) led the way for the Wildcats on offense. He scored a team high three goals bringing his season total to 19. He also had a caused turnover and a groundball in the game.

Fellow captain Regan Seydler (Croghan, N.Y.) had a nice game on the defensive side of the ball. His five caused turnovers were a game high and his four groundballs were tied for a team high. He now has a team high 20 caused turnovers on the year.

Andrew Wurz (Utica, N.Y.) had two goals in the contest. He also registered two caused turnovers and scooped up three groundballs.

The Mustangs took 48 shots in the game, landing 34 of them on goal. The Wildcats took 30 shots, 21 on goal. The Mustangs also had 48 groundballs compared to the Wildcats 27. The lone categorical win for the Wildcats came on caused turnovers where the Wildcats had 14 to the Mustangs 7.

R.J. Ferrucci (Rome, N.Y.) made 18 saves in the game on 34 chances for a save percentage of 53%. He now has 134 saves this season and is stopping 53.8% of the shots he faces.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday when they will host the Wells Express in the "Wildcats battle for soldiers". The Wildcats will be raising funds to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project at the event. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field.
