THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats suffered a tough loss to the SUNY Maritime Privateers on Saturday 11-3. The Wildcat offense couldn't get anything going in the first half as the Maritime defense held them scoreless. The Wildcats would eventually score, but the push was too little too late.

The Wildcat goalie R.J. Ferrucci (Rome, N.Y.) had his work cut out for him. The senior faced a barrage of shots from the Privateer attack; 37 to be exact. Ferrucci made 27 saves in the game, surpassing his former high of 21 that he set last season against Morrisville.

Tyler Heldt (Cicero, N.Y.) had two of the Wildcats three goals in the game. He took five shots, landing four on goal. Heldt also scooped up three groundballs.

The Privateers were led by Nick Pelligrino who took 13 shots in the game. He landed eight shots on goal with three of them finding the back of the net. Brendan McNally earned the win in goal for Maritime. He made 12 saves in 56 minutes of play.

The Wildcats are now 1-5 on the season. The team will be back at it on Wednesday when they travel to Canton to take on the SUNY Canton Roos. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
