MLAX: SUNY Poly Earns Their First Victory of 2016 in 8-4 Win over Regis.

WESTON, Mass. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned its first win of the 20126 season on Saturday at Regis College by a score of 8-4. The men got out to a two nothing lead in the first quarter of play, but lost the lead in the second. The team came out of the locker room after halftime on a mission. They regained the lead and distanced themselves from Regis with a five goal quarter. The Wildcats would hold the lead and secure the victory through the last quarter.

The Wildcats had three multi goal scorers in the game. Connor Elsenbeck (Clinton, N.Y. / Clinton HS) scored the first and the last goal for the Wildcats. He scored twice on eight shots, had two assists, and picked up four ground balls in the game. Team captain Nick Levanti (Clayville, N.Y. / New Hartford HS) and junior attack Tyler Heldt (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse HS) also had a pair of goals each. Levanti shot 57% and scooped up four ground balls. Heldt put seven of nine shots on goal and had four groundballs.

R.J. Ferrucci (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) earned the win in goal. He saved 11 of 15 in his 60 minutes of play. The four goals against is his second lowest mark of his career at SUNY Poly.  

The win by the Wildcats marks the programs first win in the month of February. The team's record now stands at 1-1. The Wildcats will be back in action on March 5th when they will travel to Oswego to take on the Lakers. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
