Men’s Lacrosse Set Back by Cazenovia; Seniors Recognized Prior to Game

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Men's Lacrosse Team (4-8, 2-5 NEAC) held its own through the first quarter against the similarly named Wildcats of Cazenovia (7-5, 4-3 NEAC) Wednesday night, ending the first 15 minutes of play with the score knotted at 4-4. The visitors were able to pull away from there, however, going on to win 19 to 9.

Prior to the game SUNY Poly recognized the 7 seniors on this year's squad: Andre Shattell (Syracuse, N.Y. / Henninger), Regan Seydler (Croghan, N.Y. / Lowville), Devin Muha (Walworth, N.Y. / Gananda), Matt Stark (Rotterdam, N.Y. / Schalmont), Shane Joswick (New York Mills, N.Y. / MVCC), and Mike Lucy (Bennington, VT / Mount Anthony).

All the team's seniors helped contribute to the Wildcat program over the years, but Shattell in particular stands out as the first player to have played a full 4-year career in the program, as his freshman season coincided with the program's inaugural season in 2011. Shattell scored 2 goals in the game Wednesday night to cap off his career.

Also finding the net were seniors Joswick and Seydler, with the latter executing a nice running strike on a fastbreak, one-hopping the ball into the net from several yards out. It was the defender's first goal on the year.

As for the visitors, they tallied 19 scores on a series of accurate strikes from attackers Kyle Kingsley, Joe Delia, and Brock Post. Delia tied Kingsley for the lead in goals with 4, and had a game-high 4 assists to boot. The trio accounted for 11 of the team's 19 goals in the game.

The Wildcats will wrap up their season on Saturday, heading to Medaille for a 4:00 pm match up.
