Fourth Quarter Comeback Falls Short for Wildcats

MARCY, N.Y.- The SUNYIT Men's Lacrosse team (0-10, 0-4 NEAC) was unable to overcome a 6 goal Medaille (2-4, 2-1 NEAC) third quarter as they fell 9-6 in a hard fought NEAC battle.

A pair of Tyler Serva (Chenango Forks, N.Y. / Chenango Forks High School) goals late in the first quarter had the Wildcats out in front early in the game. They held tough throughout the entire half as they kept fighting and carried a 3-2 lead into the half.

Halftime adjustments saw Medaille take control of the game however. A 6 goal third quarter proved to be too much for the Wildcats to overcome. The rally was capped off by two goals in the final minute of the quarter as Medaille took an 8-3 lead into the fourth.

The Wildcats did their best to come back in the final quarter as they put together 3 straight goals to start the period. The Medaille defense was able to hold on however and close the door as they took home the 9-6 victory.

Serva went on to score 3 goals in the contest as goal keeper Jeffery Melnik (Yonkers, N.Y. / Stepanic ) recorded 8 saves for the Wildcats.

The men are back in action Wednesday as they host SUNY Cobleskill in a NEAC battle starting at 5:00 pm.
