Four Wildcats Selected to All-Conference Rolls; Gifford Named 1st Team

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Four members of the SUNYIT Men's Lacrosse Team were named to the NEAC All-Conference list on Wednesday. Leading the way was junior Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia), who was selected to the All-Conference 1st Team as a long-stick midfielder.

Gifford finished the season with 46 caused turnovers to lead the NEAC, while his 75 groundballs were third in the conference. In addition, Gifford scored 23 goals and dished out 11 assists on the year.

Joining Gifford were senior Kevin Gardrvits (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Glen Cove) and junior Tyler Serva (Chenango Forks, N.Y. / Chenango Forks), who both made the 2nd Team.

Gardrvits led SUNYIT in goals with 39, and was third overall in the NEAC.  Serva, the only Wildcat to be named to the All-Conference team in both of the program's first two years, led the NEAC with 138 groundballs on the year, as well as 167 faceoffs won. Serva even added 25 goals and 15 assists.

Lastly, senior defender Derek Rowe (Mexico, N.Y. / Mexico) was named to the NEAC All-Conference 3rd Team, a particularly impressive feat as Rowe had not played college lacrosse until his junior year, the program's first. Rowe finished third on SUNYIT in groundballs with 41, using his length as a 6-5 defender to help anchor the Wildcat defense.
