Tyler Serva Named NEAC Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in the sports of baseball, men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and men's and women's tennis for the period ending April 15, 2012.

Chris Redington (Tully, N.Y.) and Tyler Serva (Chenango Forks, N.Y.) have both been named the NEAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Offensive Student-Athletes of the Week after each posted a pair of strong performances for their respective squads.

Serva, a sophomore for the SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats, also registered 10 points in two conference contests last week, while also registering 32 groundballs and winning 31 of his 48 face offs.  He scored two goals while scooping up a game-best 14 groundballs and winning 16 out of 24 face offs in a 16-5 setback to Morrisville State last Tuesday before exploding for a game-high five goals and three assists in addition to a game-high 18 groundballs in a 21-2 victory over Penn State Abington Saturday, which was the team's first victory of the season.  Serva currently leads the NEAC with 127 groundballs on the year, while leading the nation in groundballs per game with 14.29 per game.
