MBB: Wildcats Season Ends In Playoff Loss Against Cobleskill.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost in the North Atlantic Conference playoffs on Friday night 90-74 against Cobleskill. With the loss, the Wildcats ended their season at 16-10 overall and went 9-3 in the conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Fighting Tigers came out shooting on Friday night, with Andre Starks hitting a three-pointer to open the game. That would help pace the Fighting Tigers 47 first-half points. The Wildcats kept things interesting early, with Cheickne Toure knocking down a three-pointer to cut the Fighting Tigers lead to 21-20. The Fighting Tigers would respond, however, going on a 15-4 run to extend their lead to 36-24. They would take a 47-35 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats would cut the lead to 7 with two Anthony Rose free throws with 15:19 to play. Despite the strong effort to continue their season, the Fighting Tigers' offense was too strong and would continue to answer any time the Wildcats attempted to go on a run. They would hang onto the double-digit lead the rest of the way out, and hold onto the 9-0-74 win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Anthony Rose led the Wildcats with 24 points and 10 rebounds, the game's only double-double.

  • Markel Jenkins, Kobe Long, and Andre Starks all finished with 20+ points for the Fighting Tigers.
