MBB: Strong Second Half Lifts Fighting Tigers Over Wildcats, 65-59.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference contest against SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday night 65-59. A strong second-half performance from the Fighting Tigers was the difference. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 12-9 on the season, and 6-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats had a strong first-half performance, with the majority of their points coming inside the paint or at the free-throw line. Kamryn Comstock and Dylan Ernst both had strong performances in the first half off the bench to help the Wildcats take a 30-24 lead into halftime. Comstock would finish with 12 points, while Ernst would finish with a team-high 15 points.

The Wildcats maintained their lead for the majority of the second half, but the Fighting Tigers began to threaten with 4:49 to play when Markel Jenkins made a layup to cut the Wildcats lead to 49-48. Kobe Long would score the next 14 points for the Fighting Tigers, including 4 consecutive three-point attempts. That run would prove to be the difference, as the Fighting Tigers would take the road contest 65-59.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Cheickne Toure, Kamyrn Comstock, and Dylan Ernst all finished in double digits for the Wildcats.

  • Kobe Long scored a game-high 29 points, including going 5-7 from three-point range.
