MBB: Wildcats Beat Lesley 82-60 for Weekend Sweep.

UTICA, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly men's defeated basketball team defeated Lesley on Saturday afternoon 82-60 to go a perfect 2-0 on the weekend. The Wildcats were led by Anthony Rose who scored a game-high 31 points, going 12-16 from the field while also going 7-7 from the free throw line. Josh Ernst and Cheickne Toure added 14 points each.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: Lesley would control the beginning parts of the game on Saturday, taking an early lead and extending their lead to 26-13 before the Wildcats began to make their comeback. An LJ Randle layup with 4:41 left in the first half would tie the score at 31-31. The Wildcats would build their lead to 41-36 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Malachi Howard would make a layup with 17:23 to play to give the Lynx a 42-41 lead. With 16:58 to play, an Anthony Rose layup would give the Wildcats a 43-42 lead, and they would lead the rest of the way. The Wildcats frequently targeted Rose in the second half, who was muscling his way to the basket with strong finishes around the basket. With the win, the Wildcats move to 10-7 on the season and currently are 6-1 in conference play, which puts them in second place behind SUNY Morrisville in the West Division.

 

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be back in action on Sunday, January 21st as the travel to Hamilton College. The game is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM.
