MBB: Wildcats Pick Up Important Conference Victory Over Cobleskill 75-67.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team defeated SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday evening 75-67 in the North Atlantic Conference matchup. Anthony Rose, Josh Ernst, and Cheickne Toure all finished above 20 points in the victory. With the win, the Wildcats move to 8-7 overall, and 3-1 in NAC play. The Fighting Tigers move to 8-7 overall, and 2-2 in NAC play. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: Anthony Rose scored the first basket on Tuesday evening and the Wildcats would never look back, as they wouldn't trail for any part of the conference contest. Rose, Josh Ernst, and Toure led the way in the first half for the Wildcats, combining for 23 of the 33 team points. Rose also grabbed 9 of his 13 rebounds in the first half. He would finish with the games only double-double. Trent Lomax led the Fighting Tigers with 6 points off the bench in the first half. The Wildcats would take a 33-23 lead into halftime.

The Fighting Tigers would refuse to go away in the second half, however, as they would open up the half on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 35-35 with 17:17 remaining. Rose and Ernst would make back-to-back layups and the Wildcats would regain the lead and stay there for good. Toure would finish with 14 second-half points to finish with a game-high 21 points. He added 7 assists and 6 rebounds as well.
