MBB: Rose Named To All-Tournament Team.

Willimantic, Conn. -  The SUNY Poly men's basketball lost their final game of the Eastern Connecticut State Tournament against St. Joseph's (Me.), 89-74. Despite the loss, Anthony Rose was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the first half, the Monks shot an impressive 50% from behind the three-point arc, including three triples from John Paul Frazier. The Monks spread the scoring around pretty evenly, with four players finishing with eight or more points in the first half. In a similar theme to the night before, Anthony Rose and Cheickne Toure had strong first-half performances from the Wildcats, with Rose scoring 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds and Toure scoring 15 points, including three three-pointers, one coming with :02 seconds left in the half.

In the second half, two Anthony Rose free throws with 8:34 to play cut the Monks' lead to 71-65. The Wildcats wouldn't be able to cut into the lead any further, however, and the Monks would create separation in the next few minutes of the game. Remijo Wani would have 15 second-half points to lead the way for the Monks, who would hold on for the 89-74 victory.

Anthony Rose was the lone Wildcat named to the All-Tournament team for his excellent play. Rose finished the game with 27 points and 11 rebounds, for his second double-double in as many days.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be back in action on January 5th as they head to Eastern Nazarene for a North Atlantic Conference game. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
