MBB: Wildcats Season Comes to an End in the NAC Quarterfinal Round.

DELHI, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost to SUNY Cobleskill on Friday night 70-55 in the NAC Quarterfinal round. The Cobleskill lead was built in the first half and was too much for the Wildcats to overcome in the second. SUNY Poly ends their season with a 13-13 record.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Solid 3-point shooting was a big part of the Cobleskill strategy in the first half. They knocked down five of the 11 3-pointers they took in the half. Cobleskill shot 41% from the field in the half but SUNY Poly shot just 27% from the field. Cheickne Toure led the Wildcats with eight points in the first half. Andre Starks had 11 points for the Fighting Tigers and knocked down three 3-pointers.

 

In the second half, Poly upped their offensive output to try to make a comeback but was matched bucket for bucket by the Fighting Tigers.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Cheickne Toure had a team-high 17 points for the Wildcats. He also had four rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.
  • Cobleskill's Andre Starks had a game-high 18 points, a game-high four assists, a game-high four steals, and four rebounds.
  • LJ Randle scored 11 points for SUNY Poly with four rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
  • Jesse O'Dell was just a point shy of a double-double in his last career game as a Wildcat. He finishes his illustrious four-year career with 1197 points (5th all-time), 616 rebounds (3rd all-time), and 103 blocks (4th all-time)
  • Mitch Kernizan had four points, six rebounds, and a block in his final game in a Wildcat uniform.
  • Iziah Pigott had 14 points for Cobleskill with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
