MBB: Josh Gregory Puts a Bow on His Illustrious Career at SUNY Poly With Three National Awards Headlined by All-American Selection.

MARCY, N.Y. - This week was a big week for the Division III basketball community as three of the biggest awards of the season were announced in tandem with the final rounds of the NCAA National Championship Tournament. Josh Gregory had a huge week as far as accolades go. The senior, and arguably one of the best players in the history of SUNY Poly Basketball, earned d3hoops All-Region 1 Second Team, NABC All-District 1 First Team, and d3hoops Fourth Team All-American honors.

The announcement of the All-Region and All-District selections came as no surprise for most of the SUNY Poly community. After appearing in 25 games for the Wildcats, 13 of which were conference contests, Gregory shot 50.3% from the field, 78% from the line, and 41.1% from three-point range to average 20.5 points per game. He collected a total of 121 rebounds and had a per-game rebounding average of 9.3. Gregory had 30 assists, 13 steals, and 17 blocks against NAC opponents in 2021-22 and led the NAC with 531 points, 231 total rebounds, 194 defensive rebounds, 185 field goals, and 114 free throws made.

The big exclamation point of the week for the Wildcat was the final award announced. Gregory was named a d3hoops All-American, an award only given to the top 25 players in all of Division III Basketball. Gregory's All-American Fourth Team status marks just the second time in program history that a Wildcat has earned an All-American Award.

Josh Gregory's resume at SUNY Poly was already impressive prior to this week's major award announcements by the NABC and d3hoops. He has been a three-time All-Conference First Team selection, has led the Wildcats in scoring for the last two seasons, was the NAC Player of the Year, a NAC First-Team selection, was a d3hoops Player of the Week, and was NAC Player of the Week three times this season. Gregory firmly cemented his place among the best ever at SUNY Poly by bolstering his national prestige, rounding out one of the greatest careers in program history with the d3hoops All-Region, NABC All-District, and d3hoops All-American Awards.

After what can only be referred to as an illustrious career at SUNY Poly, Josh Gregory's name will be found in the SUNY Poly record book for years to come. He finished his career second all-time with 1,891 points and third all-time with 200 three-pointers made. He ranks 2nd all-time in field goals made (659), 2nd all-time in rebounds (905), and 2nd all-time in blocked shots (133). Gregory's efficiency and offensive prowess will be remembered by Wildcat fans for a very long time.
