UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team earned their eighth win of the season on Monday night 73-58 over Utica College. The Wildcats offense had a well-rounded attack with five payers scoring 10 points or more in the game. SUNY Poly is now 8-4 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wildcats and the Pioneers played a close game for the first 15 minutes. After trading buckets back and forth, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run in the last 4 four minutes of the first half to take a 10 point lead into the locker room. SUNY Poly would grow their lead to a high point of 17 with seven minutes to go. The majority of the Wildcats damage was done inside. SUNY Poly outscored Utica in the paint 40-26 and outrebounded the Pioneers 46-32. The Wildcats also had a big edge in second-chance points with a 17-2 advantage.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Five Wildcats had 10 or more points. LJ Randle had 15, Alan Rodriguez scored 14, Josh Gregory and Jesse O'Dell each had 12 points, and Mitch Kernizan scored 10.

LJ Randle led all scorers with 15 points. He also had six rebounds and four steals.

Jesse O'Dell had a 12 point, 11 rebound double-double.

Alan Rodriguez scored 14 points, had four rebounds, and had a steal.

Josh Gregory scored 12 points and was just a rebound short of a double-double.

Mitch Kernizan had 10 points, five rebounds, and a team-high four assists.

Thomas Morreale, Darius Hopkins, and Kobe Lufkin each scored 13 points for the Utica College Pioneers. Morreale and Hopkins had seven rebounds each.

The Wildcats will host NVU-Lyndon on Friday, January 7th in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM. No spectators will be allowed at the game, but it will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN).
